How Acupuncture Helps

A Whole-Person Approach to Everyday Comfort

Acupuncture is a time-tested, drug-free approach that many people turn to for everyday aches and longer-standing discomfort. Rather than focusing on a single spot, we look at your whole picture — how you move, rest, and feel day to day — and build a plan around it. Every visit begins with listening. We take time to understand where it hurts, what makes it better or worse, and what you want to get back to, so your care is tailored to you and works alongside anything your doctor recommends.

  • A natural, medication-free option to explore for pain
  • Care tailored to where you hurt and how it affects your day
  • Supports relaxation and a greater sense of ease
  • Complements the care you receive from your physician

Dr. Shi is a licensed acupuncturist in NE, NY, MA, and TX, National Board certified Herbalist, and the founder of the Classic Healing Center. She is an enthusiastic second-generation acupuncturist with more than 10 years of experience in the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has been specially trained in classic and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to treat people with a wide range of conditions, and in addition to their overall Qi-Blood, and Yin-Yang balancing. Her practice focused on various types of balances including Women's Health & Fertility, spine health, internal medicine, neuro health, mental disorders, autoimmune diseases, and GI disorders. She also takes care of pediatric problems, such as cold, poor digestion, and poor sleep. Dr. Shi and team believe in balanced health. But this is not just any balance — this is the unique balance of Chinese medicine, rooted in the harmony of nature and your body's own energy. Through acupuncture, we guide you back to this deeper, natural rhythm — so you no longer struggle with maintaining your health. We show the path and walk the journey with you.

Answers to common questions about your care and what to expect.

What kinds of pain do you see?

People most often come to us for back, neck, and shoulder pain, joint pain, sciatica, headaches, and muscle tension. In your first visit we talk through your situation and whether acupuncture is a good fit for you.

Does acupuncture for pain hurt?

Most people are surprised how comfortable it is. The needles are very thin — far finer than those used for shots — and many patients relax deeply or even doze off during a session.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies by person and by how long you've had the concern. After your initial assessment we suggest a starting plan and revisit it based on how you respond.

Can I combine acupuncture with my other medical care?

Yes. Acupuncture is often used alongside conventional care. We're glad to coordinate with your other providers, and we encourage you to keep them informed.
